Vachoudianos Xerokampos (Meakis) Beach

Arvi is a large coastal village located 79 kilometers southeast of Heraklion and 35 kilometers west of Ierapetra, in a small plain formed in front of the impressive Arvi Gorge. About 1 kilometer west of Arvi, you’ll find the area of Vachoudianos Xerokampos, which belongs to the village of Vachos. To get there, you need to drive west past the last greenhouses of Arvi, cross the pebbled beach of Kolymbos, and pass through the Bouboulis stream.

Park your vehicle at the last greenhouse and walk for about 5 minutes west until you reach the beach of Vachoudianos Xerokampos, which is locally known as Meakis. The beach got its name from a nickname of an elderly man who owned property in this secluded cove. It features fine sand and crystal-clear waters, and it is always quiet with no crowds, making it an ideal spot for those seeking solitude beneath the few salt cedars.
