Kastrí is located 72 kilometers southeast of Heraklion, in the sheltered bay of Keratokambos, in the Viannos region. It is the larger of the two settlements in the area (the other being Keratokambos), and in recent years, the two have merged. The area has developed significantly over the years, and its beaches have become a popular attraction for many visitors. Many people love this peaceful and welcoming place, returning frequently throughout the year. Access is easy via the road connecting Viannos to Heraklion, with the drive taking approximately 45 to 55 minutes.
In Kastrí, you’ll find the only small port in the area, which serves local boats and fishing vessels. Right next to the port, to the west, is the small Kastrí beach. It’s a lovely beach with sand and a good number of tamarisk trees, though it is not organized. However, the amenities of the village, such as rooms, tavernas, and shops, are within easy reach. After the port beach, you’ll find the larger Skouros beach, and even further west is the famous Listis beach.
