Listis beach

Listis is a stunning beach located 69 kilometers southeast of Heraklion, between Kastri and Tsoutsouros, in the area of the Kastri settlement. The beach lies just below the main road connecting the two villages. Access is possible via a steep path from the road or by walking from the nearby Kampoula beach, located slightly to the west.

Although not very large, Listis is one of the most beautiful beaches in Crete. It is unorganized but attracts many visitors due to its natural beauty. The beach features a sandy shore and shallow, crystal-clear waters. What makes it truly unique are the impressive rocks scattered along the shore and in the sea. Despite the presence of rocks, the seabed is mostly sandy, making it perfect for swimming and diving. If you swim eastward, past the large rock of Listis, you’ll discover the small Xerokampi beach, which also has a natural freshwater spring.

Above the beach towers the imposing rock of Listis, where caves have formed in the marble surface. According to local tradition, these caves once served as the hideout of a notorious thief who terrorized the region. The caves are relatively easy to access from the main road, and on top of the rock, traces of a small ancient sanctuary have been discovered.
